Over the last 15 years Shannon Foley Henn has led an eclectic life which included organizing safaris, running a boutique hotel and starting up the world's leading rock and roll cancer foundation. She has led several adventures to Everest base camp, climbed Kilimanjaro three times, hosted concerts atop Machu Picchu and Mt Fuji, kayaked the Napali Coast of Kauai, and accidentally accepted a marriage proposal from a Masai Warrior. Luckily she found Jeremy Henn throughout her travels and married him in Grand County, CO where they now live with Knuckles and Brutus The Beefcake Barber, their oversized pups. Together, they opened "Uptripping" in Winter Park in 2017.
The Birth of Uptripping:
Shannon grew up in a uniquely creative household. Her father was a talented painter whose pieces adorned the walls of their family home. Her mother is a sought after interior designer with a meticulous eye for detail and finishings. At a young age Shannon was enamored by modern art and was encouraged to be creative in every aspect of life. She earned a scholarship to the Moore College of Art & Design to attend courses while still in high school. She went on to study business at Boston College with a concentration in art.
As her own style emerged, and inspired by the works of Warhol and Lichtenstein, she started to intertwine her passion for modern art with images from travel magazines and international fashion ads. She went on to a career in the corporate world as a brand director which led her around the globe and landed her in Kenya working with the oldest safari company in East Africa. Under the original guidance of the best safari guides in the world, Shannon began to consult on global adventures. Her experience led her to produce the first concert on Everest Basecamp for The Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHS). While leading extreme fundraisers for LHS around the world and searching for bone marrow donors at concerts and festivals, Shannon met Jeremy Henn. Jeremy, having been his brothers life-saving bone marrow donor, joined Shannon in her global pursuit to bring cancer care around the world. In 2016, they returned from a year in East Africa supporting a pediatric cancer center and moved to Winter Park, CO. Jeremy has given Shannon the renewed passion and support to focus on art and travel. Shannon has found a way to unite them into unique pieces of acrylic on canvas. Through Uptripping, they have found a way to bring it all together and give back to the organizations that they love most. A portion of every item sold at Uptripping is donated to charities near and far. To learn more, pop into Uptripping in Winter Park and say hello to Shannon in Jeremy in person.
